Vulcanized O Rings
The process of vulcanizing O rings (and other profiles) allows the manufacture
of rings in virtually any diameter, with a cord diameter up to 1.500".
Vulcanized O rings can be purchased in quantities ranging from 1 to thousands,
without tooling charges. A wide variety of rubber compounds (including VitonĀ®)
in many different sizes are in stock and ready to cut and vulcanize upon receipt
of your order.
Testing Procedure
The proper way to test the bond of a vulcanized O ring is a specific process.
Doubling over, pinching, twisting or bending back a splice are not proper ways
of testing a bonded joint. Splice strength varies with the configuration of the
cross section of the extruded material. Because of this, the strength of the
bond is difficult to determine. Slight pulling of the bond perpindicular to the
plane of the splice is a sufficiant way to test the joint. The O ring should be
set in a way as so the pull is evenly distributed.
